080612_Melbourne Day 11

Warning: 58 (uninteresting) images ahead.

Since I've been posting nothing much but food all these while, I shall make a short tour of Wk's apartment.

The dressing table in the toilet.

The said transparent shower cubicle.

Laundry basket.

Kitchen.

As you can see, the kitchen is right next to the entrance. Meaning when you open the door and get into the apartment, the kitchen is right next to you already.

The dining table which you can see is friggin small. It'd be just nice for a western meal where everything's in a platter but a little crowded if we have Chinese style serving; rice and side dishes + soup.

The living area. With couches he hates because he thinks they're too ugly.

View from the window in the living room. Oh that piece of land next to the road is a cemetery. It was said that Ghostrider was filmed there.

Can also see Australia's flag from the window.

The room.

The wardrobe.

Back of the door with all of our jeans. And urm, my sleepwear and my bra which you cannot see cos it's behind the sleepwear.

Nacho Cheese Doritos

I tell you this is the most evil snack in the world. It gets you started and you will never wanna stop eating it! I've been munching it everyday T___T imagine the amount of fats and carbs I've consumed.

Yesterday when we were at Safeway in the junk food area I saw lots and lots of Doritos and I turned and smiled at Wk. We bought 2 packets of my favourite Cheese Supreme because it was cheaper if we buy 2 than 1.

And when we got back, Wk purposely kept them at the highest rack in the kitchen cabinet and told me, " Cannot eat so fast. " He purposely did it because he knew I cannot reach it.

The said 2 packets of Supreme Cheese Doritos peeking from the top. Shit I feel like eating doritos now.

Here's the ever AMAZING fridge which I talked about yesterday.

Look where I'm pointing; that's the freezer. Yes I'm not joking nor am I lying. That's the place we use to freeze fresh meats. And ice cream if only there's enough space for it.

Told you, it's 1/4 of a CPU. I have to deal with this freezer can you imagine the wtf-look in me when Wk said we can't buy ice creams because the freezer has no space for it?

The super dirty kitchen due to my heavy cooking. Must clean it already this Sunday.

That's all.

My breakfast today.

Added milk. Not bad.

Lunch:

Fried rice.

Today when he came back after work he brought back something very happy-fying!

Wheeeeeeeeeeee!!!

Krispy Kreme!!!!11

We immediately took 2 original glace, popped it into microwave, reheat and the first bite of it was omg... ORGASMIC. Yum yum.

And for dinner I cooked:

Lemon chicken.

Baby bak choy and crab stick meat.

You'll see a lot of crab stick meat from now because we bought a super big packet of it the other day in the market.

Potato salad.

And for the rest of the day I spent time taking pictures of some of the stuffs I bought here in Melbourne.

These were last year's:

Black tights from Sportsgirl. (Yes I'm aware that I have thunderous thighs T__T) Doesn't work really well cos it's kinda thin, you can see it from its sheer material. Or maybe my legs are just too big that it has to expand that much =(

Witchery's Parka Jacket which Wk got for me even before I came here last year.

There's a story behind this jacket. Actually this is not the 1st jacket he got me. I lost the one he got me in KLIA last year when I just got back from Melbourne. I was carrying a lot of stuffs and when I wanted to get a trolley, I put the jacket I was holding somewhere and when I left, I forgot all about it! It was until I reached home only I remembered about it and I immediately called KLIA and asked them to inform me if they find it. I didn't only call once, for that whole week I called a few times but there was no news nor signs of it.

Curse that stupid bastard who stole my jacket. Stupid cheap idiot. People's jacket also want to nick.

And then I was so sad for the loss. I wasn't sad mainly because I lost the jacket due to my carelessness. I was sad that Wk was unhappy about it. And some more the jacket is not cheap. Then for the whole week when I looked through my Melbourne pictures I got even more sad because it ached to see myself in the jacket but knowing the truth that I no longer have it anymore.

Not long after that, I decided to get a new one. And I was lucky, I managed to get the last piece. =)

Curse that stupid fucker who stole it. >=(

I especially love the faux fur hood.

Keeps me really warm =)

This one's from 9West and I love it so much I overuse it and now it's slowly wearing out =( Time to get a new one.

This one's from Guess but I'm not really sure about it's authenticity. I really really love the colour (It was a sweet shade of mint) which was the main reason I bought it, but because of its colour also it gets dirty really easily. Now it's so dirty I also don't know how to clean it.

There are a few more but they're all back at home.

So the other day we were at Bridge Road:

It was so cheap you cannot believe it!

Such pretty details.

Can guess how much ah?

It was hung in a stack of other clothes and labeled "3 for $ 5"!!! So it's like AUD 1.67 or in other words RM 5 only! Damn cheap right for such a nice piece!

And these!

Guess how much!

Haiyah save it you cannot guess one. I got both of it for AUD 10 (RM 30) only!!! Some more the cloth is quite thick one not some cheap, flimsy material lo.

Wah damn happy got such great deals. I spent AUD 15 (RM 45) and I got a total of 5 tops ok you can't even get such good deals in M'sia.

White wool ribbed stockings from Witchery.

I've been looking for a pair of white stockings so when I saw this, which was hung together with all the other types of tights/stockings and all the other black and grey tights/stockings, AND most of them were priced at AUD 14.95, I, so stupid, without looking at the price of this pair, took it to the counter.

And then after the girl scanned the barcode, she said, " That would be 39.95 please. "

I was like, WTF? But obviously I kept my cool lah I didn't make a big fuss lah. After paying only we talked about it outside the shop.

WTF AUD 40 (RM 120) FOR A PAIR OF STOCKINGS! If I was aware of the price and I still bought it I must be out of my mind!

Sigh who ask me so stupid ownself assume everything's same price one. But in the end I still think it's worth it because the stockings are really functional and nice. It keep my legs warm cos it's partially wool mah. Haih moral of the story is, don't be such a sohai and assume things without even checking.

On Sunday we went to DFO:

Jeans from Dotti.

Too long so had to fold it. =( Gonna trim it off soon.

I hate buying jeans in Aus. Everything's extra long and they don't have a section for petites like Topshop.

Then I bought 2 turtlenecks.

Sorry the material is a bit stretchy and sheer so can see my bra. I intend to wear this for layering only.

I dunno why I find myself not looking really good in turtlenecks since I have a short neck. Wtf pun not intended.

Shorts from Country Road which was AUD 18 (RM 54) and previously it was dunno AUD 50 (RM 150) or something. Ok this is a bit pricey but a pair of shorts is an essential and it can last. It's not like tops where you wear it once and get bored of it. And besides, RM 150 is too crazy for a pair of shorts so since it was on sale, why not?

I can wear it with stockings in winter and without stockings back at home.

Country Road bag which is oh-so-famous, you can see it everywhere in Melbourne. Maybe in everywhere Aus I dunno.

Ok the truth is, I used to think it's not that nice. Not ugly, but not really nice. I just think it's kinda big for an everyday-tote. But no doubt, it's a very versatile bag. It's so big that some people use it as a luggage bag, some use it as a handbag, some sling it and use it as a school bag.

BUT. I'm actually a very fickle minded person. Not in relationships ok, in fashion. I tend to change my mind very easily especially when I'm influenced like when I see lots of people having something I don't like and I dunno how, after some time, somehow I'll slowly find it nice.

Like I used to hate Crocs but when Adelle and Cheng Choo bought it, I dunno why I slowly think it's kinda ok and even considered in getting it for myself.

Same goes to this stupid Country Road bag. Yeah I finally surrendered and bought it because it was on sale. It was previously AUD 59.90 (RM 180 yeah crazy price for that kinda bag) but then after discount it was AUD 36 (RM 108) so I thought quite ok lah might as well just get it since it's so cheap and I'm sure not many people will have it in M'sia. And I need a new bag anyway. And everyone's using it.

I'm now eyeing on that Longchamp bag hrmmmmmm.

Then we went into Levi's and ok I was wrong about Levi's. I said they don't have nice designs and they're overpriced. Well that was before How Keat told me about the Levi's in DFO.

They have a lot of designs and there was a sale going on so there were jeans which were sold at as low as AUD 39.95 (RM 120). But it was a mess there. Everything was everywhere and there weren't much sizes left.

I tried one and like I said, the jeans in Aus are generally longer maybe because it's made to fit the angmohs who are also generally taller than us Asians. So did not get any jeans lah. Instead, Wk got me something else. =D

A white jacket! I've been whining and whining about wanting to get a white jacket/coat since both of the jacket and coat I have are black. And then we saw this which was quite cheap! AUD 60 (RM 180). Seriously I think this is more worth it than that Country Road bag for the same price.

This is the tab that's sewn to the end of the left sleeve. Damn cute.

The hood's not as nice as the Witchery's. It also had a faux fur attached to it but it's so ugly I took it off since it's removable.

The removed ugly faux fur.

And lastly when we were on the way back in Bourke Street, I went into Supre and got a scarf.

Which was damn long.

But I like cos it's cute. =)

Ok that's all. Wah sibeh long entry.

080611_Melbourne Day 10 (updated)

Fuck la it's so cold yesterday I had to wear leg warmers and socks to sleep. Even now as I'm typing this.

When I wanted to prepare for dinner yesterday I had to take out the frozen prawns from the freezer. Walao I tell you my fingers felt like they weren't there anymore because it was practically frozen as well. Then I washed them under some really warm water and I could feel the blood flowing really quickly in the inside I'm serious! My fingers felt like it was contracting somehow and it felt really weird and scary at one point.

The only thing to warm myself up now is a very long and thorough HOT shower. Yes I use the word HOT because I think my skin is capable of taking something some people might consider scalding hot water. Wk cannot take it so hot so everytime I have to compromise with the not-so-hot shower at first and after he finishes and leave I'll make the shower hotter and just stand there and let the water drench me and it'll feel so damn fucking good. It's so hot that the whole shower cubicle which is transparent gets fogged up entirely. Even the mirror on the dressing table in the same toilet. But you know what's good? After showering I don't feel that cold, because I guess my body's heated up with the hot water already.

And you know what's even better? Yesterday right after showering I stepped out of the cubicle wanting to grab my towel but it was so fucking cold that I went back into the shower cubicle immediately. Then I attempted 2nd try and I realised I threw my towel to the laundry basket yesterday and I had to get a new one which was in the room. And that's like suicide because it'll be so fucking cold to run outside with a wet, naked body in the cold. So he asked me to wait, after he's done he went out and got my towel for me so that I can wipe myself dry inside the shower cubicle which is not cold. =) I feel like the luckiest and most blessed woman alive.

Yesterday night something really funny happend. You don't have to know in detail I just need to remind myself about it if I ever read this again in the future. Something about moaning and laughing really hard. =) Good times, good times.

And yesterday also the fridge's freezer had too much ice around it, the fridge door cannot be closed. So we had to take out all the food and shut down the entire fridge to defrost the freezer and let the ice melt. At fucking 1.30 am. We only realised the door cannot be closed at 1.30 am. And previously it was still ok, I think the ice must have cumulated to a point where it pushed the door open.

Yes that's one very stupid old-fashioned fridge here in his apartment. Because he rented a 1-person apartment (he stays alone), everything is built to fit only 1 person (except the living area, there's a 2-seater couch and a single couch which got me thinking why they provide so many couches when everything else is built to fit only 1 person apparently). Including the fridge. The freezer was only the size of a quarter of a CPU. The fridge isn't like any normal fridge with 2 doors. There's only one door, and the freezer is at the top right side, with a little small "door". Go figure.

So that's why we cannot get too many meats and stuffs because there'll be no place to keep them. NOT EVEN ICE CREAM T____T this is so ridiculous.

Ok it's only 10 am I shall go back to sleep.

********

Woke up at 12.30 today and had leftover spaghetti. Watched Wedding Crasher and prepared his lunchbox for tomorrow and tonight's dinner.

Pan-fried salmon.

Mapo Tofu. I used the ready-made sauce and they sucked so I had to 'modify' the ready-made sauce a little. It's the best if cooked manually.

Red bean soup, which took me so long to cook. But it turned out pretty ok and he loved it. =) He said he never liked red beans but this is an exception. =)

That is all for today.

That same funny thing happened again today. Two days in a row haha. Ok I should stop it from happening because too much is annoying. =)

080610_Melbourne Day 9

Met up with Amanda today and I really have to thank her heaps for showing and giving me the most wonderful opportunity to do something today. And had me found something I've been searching for a long time.

And because it was something I did for the very first time not knowing if I still have another time, I shall post a super huge picture of it.

Can you spot what's so great about this picture? What is all that hoo haa about?

I'll show a close up of what's so great about it.

...

...

...

Jeng jeng jeng jeng!

Today for the very first time I laid my fingers on a Steinway & Sons grand piano and even played on it!

(If you don't know what's a Steinway & Sons piano go google yourself.)

All these while I have only heard of how people talked about it and only heard its tone from recordings. And only saw just one side of it whenever it's used in a concert in the Malaysian Philharmonic Orchestra. And some say that there's only ONE Steinway in Malaysia which is the one at the MPO.

So all these while I never thought I would get a chance to actually touch it, let alone play on it.

Amanda has been telling me there's this music shop in Melbourne which has Steinway & Sons piano and not only one but A FEW of it some more. So today we met up and she brought me there and that was one hell of an experience.

Day9_Trying out the Steinway

The piano which I played on (also in pictures above) is priced at AUD 149,999.

Yes AUD 150K in short. Or RM 450K, which can already buy a very nice house in M'sia.

The touch of the piano was so sensitive and light that an effortless playing can sound equally as good as one who's trying really hard on a Yamaha! Okay I'm not trying to be stereotype here, Yamaha DO have good ones but obviously it cannot be compared with a Steinway.

Just look at the price and it'll answer to everything. Even a Steinway upright piano is so expensive. With the price (I saw one which was AUD 49,999) I can get a Yamaha grand already you tell me lah how to compare!

And don't deny it that price DOES matter when it comes to quality. I'm talking about piano here by the way.

So anyway, back to that piano which can be traded for a house. Yeah it was so nice to play with because every single note was sung out so brilliantly even when I hit the key halfway through. And to think I suck when I play my old Yamaha at home, I realised actually better tone boosts one's confidence and so, more determination to practice.

Now that I think about it, if only I had a better piano to practice with, I might not even quit playing and switch completely to violin.

I actually took a video so that I can show how beautiful the sound of the Steinway is but I don't think I can upload it here with the condition of the lousy internet connection. Will do so when I'm back.

The place we actually went to is called Allan's Music which a store that sells instruments and music scores. We walked around and saw this double bass and suddenly we realised actually we're shorter than a double bass.

Sigh now that's a reason I can't learn to play double bass.

Then they have a very wide selection of music scores mostly piano, but they do have scores for other instruments as well. I was searching through the violin section and as I browsed through composers whose name began with the letter B, I got slightly excited. I dug and dug and dug.

AND FINALLY I FOUND WHAT I WAS ANTICIPATING!!!!!!!!

OMG I WAS SO HAPPY I FOUND IT I IMMEDIATELY TOOK IT OUT AND CLUTCHED IT TO MY CHEST AND MADE MY MIND TO BUY IT NO MATTER WHAT EVEN IF THERE WAS A SMALL STAIN AT THE COVER COS IT WAS THE ONLY ONE LEFT THERE.

I didn't even care how much it was cos I was really determined to get it.

I have been looking for that score everywhere but to no avail and I didn't like the idea of buying it online cos need to ask to use my dad's credit card and wait for it to be shipped then it'll be quite expensive already. I thought it's a really troublesome process so I never thought of buying it online in hopes of finding it somewhere someday.

AND TODAY HAS TO BE MY LUCKY DAY!!!!

It's not really expensive some more, AUD 19.95 (around RM 60) which will be around the same price if I buy it online.

=D =D =D damn happy I found what I've been looking for all these while so I decided to reward myself another piece.

Because I think this piece is really interesting and I like the cover of the book. So cool lah. Schott publications always publish scores with catchy covers. AUD 14.95.

Actually I was also looking for Three Pieces from Schindler's List for Violin and Piano but they didn't have. But it's ok since I'm more than happy to be able to play on a Steinway grand piano and found my favourite Brahm's Scherzo music score.

=D

Thanks alot, Amanda!

Today's dinner:

ABC Soup.

Peas stir-fried with crab stick meat and shredded eggs.

And lastly, his favourite,

Tiger prawn tempura, which its prawns were SO SO damn good.

After frying, I took one and tried and I was so shocked cos I thought the prawn wasn't cooked enough. Actually I was wrong, the prawn was perfectly cooked. But it tasted as fresh as a raw one.

This is one thing I like about cooking in Melbourne. Meats are fresh and most importantly, CLEAN. We bought that tiger prawns above from Vic Market with ALL of its SHELLS TOTALLY REMOVED. How convenient can that get? And you can even get squids which are totally cleansed (in case you don't know, squids are the most mafan seafood cos need to do a lot of washing) and cut to cooking pieces. Pork are cut into perfect cooking size, some with their fats removed as well. And the pork meats are very clean and clear.

Ok enough of advertising I want to sleep now.

080609_Melbourne Day 8

Today I was very pissed because I couldn't register for any courses that I wanted. We (coursemates and I) already planned which subject to take for our Out Faculty Electives and Co-curriculum activities which will contribute to our credit hours requirement. It was only a fucking 15 minutes after the registration was opened and EVERYTHING was FULL already. WHAT NONESENSE IS THIS!

And thought I was fast enough! We thought we were fast enough!

Sigh not gonna whine more since I still managed to fulfil my credit hours requirement.

Before going out, he cooked breakfast.

Scrambled eggs, boiled broccoli, cherry tomatoes, sausages, bacon and breakfast juice. yum yum

Today's a public holiday in Australia so we went out shopping again!

Some of the shopping bags from today's spree. Really great deals since it's the sale season now wheee.

And a few picture of my happiness.

"Locking legs" while watching drama =)

Stupid pan-cool.

I like this picture the most.

After finishing drama I went and prepare his lunchbox for tomorrow's lunch. And for the first time I got to see this,

a white onion which was beautifully white.

Seriously I have never seen nor even cooked a white onion before. All these while I've only seen, cooked and eaten red onions and Bombay onions which are called yellow onions here. And this is the first time knowing, seeing and cooking a white onion.

Gotta sleep now. Night.

080608_Melbourne Day 7

Today is a weekend therefore, SHOPPING!!!

We went to Bridge Road and did some shopping. Bridge Road is basically a place where lots of off season stuffs are sold, therefore at cheaper prices. And plus, it's the sale season in Melbourne so there were lots of sales going on.

I bought 5 tops at 15AUD (approximately RM 45) cheap onot you tell me!

Then we went and had McD's for lunch and that was my first time eating Australian McD.

And you know what made the both of us mad?

This stupid friggin chilli sauce which cost us AUD 50 cents (approximately RM 1.50 according to the current currency rate).

I simply asked Wk if they have chilli sauce and he went to the counter and asked. And the girl said yes adding a "It's 50 cents" behind. Like wtf. And I made myself finish the whole SMALL tub of AUD 50 cents chilli sauce because I fucking paid RM 1.50 for that chilli sauce which is free in M'sia. With unlimited reload some more. And far nicer.

Their fries which tasted about the same.

We both had,

At first sight, I was totally turned off by the word "100% BREAST FILLET" cos I don't like chicken breast.

But then when I ate it,

Walao damn nice ok! The chicken didn't tasted like what I know as chicken breast at all! Yumm yumm I'm starting to miss it.

We went home after spending almost the whole day there.

Actually I was really really tired already and my eyes were so fucking uncomfortable cos I wore contact lens and the air is so dry and cold here.

I was trying out that friggin AUD 40 stockings from Witchery bought earlier at Bridge Road. I was so stupid I looked at all their stockings which were priced at AUD 15 and thought everything was the same price. We only realise the price when we were paying for it. But it was seriously quite good la.

It was ribbed and was partially made of wool so it was quite functionable in this winter.

=)

For dinner, we decided to make sushi.

And I made a super big California Roll (cos I don't know how to make one)

Then I asked him to cut the sushi into bite sizes while I continue making. And after a while he presented me this proudly.

Different sizes, different thickness, different height. And he was quite happy of it some more -_-

He said the sushis tasted ok but I thought they sucked. So we cooked some sauges we bought earlier in the morning at Vic Market.

Beef and garlic  sausage.

Then we snugged comfortably on the couch and watched my favourite japanese drama while eating sausages and sucky sushi. After finishing our dinner we had Baileys,

while we cuddled and finished 2 episodes of the drama.

It was a moment when I couldn't ask for more =)
